Aluminum batteries are welded together to protect the internal electrode material and prevent electrolyte leakage. However, the traditional welding packaging method can no longer meet the needs of the rapid development of power batteries, and laser welding technology has good adaptability to the aluminum casing of power batteries.


Laser welding can be divided into side welding and top welding. The important advantage of side welding is that it has little impact on the interior of the battery, and spatter is not easy to enter the interior of the battery case.

Since there may be bumps during welding, which have a slight impact on the assembly of the subsequent process, the side welding process has high requirements on the stability of the laser and the cleanliness of the material. However, since the top welding process is welded on one surface, the requirements for the integration of welding equipment are low, and mass production is simple. However, there are also two disadvantages. One is that there may be a little splash during the welding process of the battery, and the other is that the production requirements of the front part of the aluminum case of the power lithium-ion battery are high, which will lead to cost problems.


The most important process in the welding process of prismatic batteries is the packaging of the shell, which can be divided into welding of the upper cover and the lower cover according to different positions. Some power lithium-ion battery manufacturers use deep technology to process the aluminum shell of power lithium-ion batteries because the batteries they process are not large, so they only need to weld the top.
