What Is the Manufacturing Process of 18650 Lithium Battery Cell


(1) Baking

Bake for 12 hours under the condition of constant temperature and vacuum of -0.09mpa. The important purpose is to dry the moisture of the cell.


(2) Liquid injection

Inject electrolyte in the glove box filled with Ar gas after vacuum baking. The liquid injection amount varies according to the design of lithium-ion battery pack. The battery shall be weighed before and after liquid injection, and the weight difference is the liquid injection amount, so as to judge whether the electrolyte injection amount is appropriate or not.


(3) Welding electrode lugs

Weld the positive electrode lug (aluminum strip) and the negative electrode lug (nickel strip) at the scraping position of the positive and negative electrodes with an ultrasonic welding machine. Pay attention to prevent welding deviation, welding dislocation and false welding.


(4) Bottom welding

First put the insulating gasket into the steel shell, then put the wound electric core into the steel shell, and weld the negative lug on the bottom of the steel shell with a spot welder. Check the outer surface of the bottom of the steel shell, pick out the appearance defects such as yellow spot, black spot, defect and fire explosion, and try to pull the pole lug, pick the 18650 lithium-ion battery pack with poor spot welding such as fire explosion, false welding and desoldering.


(5) Seal

First spot weld the steel shell and cap of 18650 lithium ion battery pack with a spot welder, and then continue laser welding with a laser welder. Laser welding shall ensure accurate positioning and clean welded parts. It is strictly prohibited to cause battery deformation or damage. Check after welding and repair welding of bad batteries such as welding holes and explosion.


(6) Winding

The negative electrode and film must not be stuck at the front end of the electrode. There must be 2-5mm long, and the negative electrode and film must not be stuck at the top of the electrode. The film must not be folded at the left and right corners, and the film must not be stuck at the top of the electrode.
