What is the Difference Between DC Inverter Spot Welding Machine and Transistor Spot Welding Machine?

In recent years, in the precision resistance welding filed, DC inverter spot welding machine is the most widely used welder. However the transistor spot welder also appears more popularly. Then what is the difference between these two types?


1. Difference of control principle of the welding power supply

The power supply of inverter spot welding machine first rectifies and filters the industrial power, and then obtains the alternating current of intermediate frequency through the alternating conduction of IGBT module, and then outputs it to the step-down transformer, and finally obtains the current for welding through full wave rectification. The transistor welding machine power supply is developed on the basis of energy storage power supply. Firstly, the industrial power charges the low-voltage capacitor, and then controls the on and off state of FET switch to control the energy output. The switching frequency is much higher than that of GBT. Therefore, the transistor spot welding machine belongs to the range of high-frequency spot welding machine, while the inverter spot welding machine belongs to the range of medium frequency spot welding machine

2. Differences in application fields

Inverter spot welding machine has a wide range of application fields, such as relay, motor, solar photovoltaic junction box, enamelled wire, inductance and so on. Inverter spot welding machine can output current for a long time. As long as the power supply grid can provide energy in time, it can discharge for a long time. This is particularly advantageous when welding low-voltage electrical appliances. The transistor spot welding machine is different. The FET switch used in the transistor machine is very fragile when the current is high. When the body tube switch is used in the saturation zone, it can only pass through 20 μs currents. But the control accuracy is high. For example, the general control frequency of inverter is 1000 Hz, and the control frequency of transistor can reach 1 million Hz. Therefore, when the welding process requires large current and short time, or when the current rise speed requires faster, the use of transistor welding power supply has advantages. The body tube welding power supply is mainly used to weld some precision electronic components, such as sensors, power batteries and so on
