Four processing steps for battery spot welding machine failure

When we are using a spot welding machine, due to unfamiliarity with the equipment and unsuitable operation etc, some problems usually occur. The following are common problems and solutions:


One: The pedal welding machine does not work, and the power indicator does not light up:

a. Check whether the power supply voltage is normal; check whether the control system is normal, whether the communication contact contacts and the separator shift switch are protruding or burned out.


Two: Spatter that should not appear during welding:

a. Check whether the electrode tip is oxidized. Check whether the welding workpiece is severely corroded and contacted seriously.

b. Check whether the adjustment switch is too high.

c. Check whether the electrode pressure is too small and whether the welding procedure is correct.


Three: The solder joints have serious indentation, and there are extrudates:

a. Check whether the current is too large. Check whether the welding workpiece is uneven.

b. Check whether the electrode pressure is too large, and whether the shape and cross section of the electrode tip are appropriate.


Four: Insufficient strength of welding workpiece:

a. Check whether the electrode pressure is too low, check whether the electrode rod is tight, whether the welding workpiece is severely corroded, and whether the welding point is in poor contact.

b. Check whether there is too much oxide between the electrode tip and the electrode rod, and between the electrode rod and the electrode arm.

c. Check whether the tip of the electrode is increased due to wear to reduce welding energy, that is, check whether the electrode and the copper soft joint are severely oxidized.

1. The welding material of the spot welding machine has good conductivity, and the spacing should be increased. For example, when welding aluminum alloy spot welding, the point spacing is about 30% than welding stainless steel spot welding.

2. Clean the surface of the parts before spot welding with an intermediate frequency spot welder.

3. For weldments with densely distributed solder joints, the spot welding sequence should be appropriately selected.

4. Use special-shaped electrodes to avoid accidental contact points and shunting.

5. When spot welding parts of different materials and different thicknesses, the electrode should be placed on the side with larger branch resistance (that is, the thin plate or the side with poor conductivity).
