The next step is to make the cell core after the battery eletrode sheet is slitted into strips and dried. The cell can be made in two ways: Stacking  and winding.

The Stacking type is to cut the positive and negative electrode sheet and the diaphragm into the specified size, then the positive electrode sheet, diaphragm and negative electrode sheet are superimposed into a small cell monomer, then the small cells are stacked in parallel to form a large cell; Winding type is the electrode piece after the slitting is fixed on the winding needle with the rotation of the winding needle will be positive electrode sheet, negative electrode sheet and diaphragm rolled into a cell technology.

The winding type cell operation is relatively simple, whether semi-automatic or fully automatic can be completed quickly.The laminated process has a high degree of complexity, and manual operation is time-consuming and laborious, while automation is difficult to be industrialized due to equipment problems.In addition, in the quality control of the cell, the winding type is easier to control, while the stacking type is more difficult to achieve good consistency due to the cumbersome process steps.


In terms of consumer batteries,we may more attention to efficient improvement more than battery capacity and performance.Therefore, customers will have the demand of winding process. But for power lithium battery,stacking technology can better play the advantages of large cell, its safety, energy density, process control than winding occupies the advantage, and lamination technology can better control the cell yield, the most important is the pursuit of high energy density, so stacking technology is the best choice in the future.

Both the laminator and the winding machine can produce large capacity square batteries. From the perspective of the vehicle development platform, the manufacturing of square batteries in the future will match with the vehicle chassis. If look from energy density and travel mileage alone, big module group, big electric core is a trend indeed, fold piece is more advantageous than winding, but the essence that the market competes is price, if fold piece equipment can reduce cost substantially, profit is high over winding, replace perhaps close at hand.
